It's Getting Fuuuuhh-reeezing in Here!
For those of you who know about my "60 X 60" challenge, you know that I'm looking to add 60 new experiences to my life before I turn 60. I asked friends and family to offer suggestions and one longtime friend added "do a polar plunge" to my list. I was all in, but I wanted to be sure that I did something good while I froze. Enter the Town of Oyster Bay Polar Plunge benefitting the Special Olympics. I'm a sucker for the Special Olympics. I volunteered a number of years ago when they competed at Commack High School and it was a wonderful experience. Being with these young athletes and seeing the joy radiating from each and every one of them was a feeling I can't describe.
So, with just a tad of trepidation (I mean it's Long Island water in MARCH!) I joined the WBLI team and I'm excited to raise funds for this very worthwhile organization.
If you feel so inclined, I would be tremendously grateful if you would sponsor me, and more importantly support the beautiful Special Oympic athletes by donating to my fundraising campaign. And please come see me freeze my buns off! The plunge starts at 11:30am on Saturday, March 16 at Tobay Beach on Ocean Parkway. My only request is that you bring me a blanket, a cup of hot chocolate or a shot of bourbon! (Maybe a shot of bourbon IN the hot chocolate? Just saying.)
