On September 14, three of my friends and I will be taking part in the New York Special Olympics Annual CycleAbility Challenge.  It's a 70-mile ride between Kent, CT and Copake, NY. In addition to a beautiful ride and some guaranteed good times with friends, we're also looking forward to raising money for a good cause. Special Olympics NY provides cost-free sports and training opportunities for over 38,000 athletes across NYS.

We will be dedicating our ride to my bike partner's niece, Rebecca.  She has been an enthusiastic participant in the Special Olympics for a number of years. As recently as last year, she competed in the state Special Olympics tournament for golf, and won the national bronze medal. Before that she competed in swimming and basketball. She is very proud of her participation and has said that it has made an incredible difference in her life.
