Meet the Team Going to USA Games for Bocce
Roxanna Cruz: Roxanna has been competing with FREE Lighting Bocce team for over 10 years at the local and state levels. She has an apartment with her fiancé who is also on the team and went to the USA Games in Orlando 2 years ago. She enjoys competing and also helping and encouraging her teammates in playing Bocce. She works as an aide at the nursing home transporting residents to their activities. She loves to cook Hispanic food and decorate her home for the holidays especially Halloween. She admires her fiancé and her SONY coaches very much. She is very excited about going to the USA Games and feels honored to be going.
Curtis Walter: Curtis has been competing with Special Olympics for 13 years, playing multiple sports including Bocce, Snowshoe, and Athletics. Curtis enjoys cooking, walking long distance, and collecting baseball cards. He is very excited to be participating in Bocce for USA Games!
Jalen Dickerson: Jalen has been involved in Special Olympics for 2 years. Jalen has made many new friends along his SONY journey while also learning new sports. Special Olympics has improved Jalen’s self-confidence and has made him more outgoing. Jalen is a big lover of music and movies and admires Michael Jackson and Lebron James. Jalen now has a job cleaning an office building 5 nights a week. Jalen can’t wait to attend USA Games!
Carolyn Borak: Carolyn has been competing in Special Olympics for 10 years and is a big advocate for finding others to join. Carolyn loves to volunteer with youth groups, help at food pantries, and does cleanup projects in her town. A fun fact about Carolyn is that she has a good memory with numbers and people’s names! Carolyn is honored to attend USA Games and is so excited to compete with her team and coach in Minnesota!
