My name is Shayne Dalgleish and I am a Junior at Iona Prep. I am writing to ask for your help. I have committed to participating in the 2024 Westchester Polar Plunge with Iona Prep. Our team is called Iona Prep Plungers. I know – you’re probably thinking why would I participate in the Plunge? I have committed to jumping into the Long Island Sound to help support the local Athletes of Special Olympics New York. The positive impact this event will have on thousands of athletes with intellectual disabilities will last a lifetime.
Some say it may be a little crazy jumping into the waters at Rye Playland. Still, I am doing it for the more than 42,000 athletes and Unified Partners of Special Olympics for New York, so they can continue to train and compete year-round, free of charge, in more than 5,000 competitive events throughout the state in 22 sports. I know there will be a positive effect on the participants and the Special Olympics. This event has had an incredible impact on the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities in the past, and it will continue to do so on November 9th. I hope and pray that you will support me in my mission, so we can support the NY Athletes of the Special Olympics together.
I have set a personal fundraising goal of $150.00. Please help me meet this goal with your tax deductible donation. Your donation will be put directly into growing programs to serve these individuals with intellectual disabilities and to help them find success in life through success in the field of sports. Consider donating; no amount is too small. Donations can be made online via credit or debit card.
