I am taking the Staten Island Olympics Polar Plunge -- also known as Freezin' for a Reason -- this Sunday. The plunge brings together two things that have meant a lot to me over the last few years --- outdoor swimming all year round and knowing and working with people with developmental disabilities at Lifestyles for the Disabled.
The participation of my Lifestyles friends in the Special Olympics, especially swimming and bocce, motivates me. So does their general love of life and a good time, and appreciation for working on meaningful projects in writing, photography, video and radio in the department I was in.
Help me reach my fundraising goal as I take the plunge for Special Olympics NY this Sunday, Dec. 7. No amount is too small.
Funds enable the athletes of Special Olympics NY to participate in trainings, activities, and competitions at no cost to them or their caregivers.
Thanks for your support and enthusiasm.
Again, the event is Sunday, Dec. 7 at the Vanderbilt, 300 Father Capodanno Blvd; registration from 10 a.m. to 11; plunge at 11:30. Woohoo!!!!
