Hi everyone,

I’m Ryan, an 8th grader at William G. Houston Middle School, and I’m taking the Polar Plunge once again for Special Olympics New York!

When I was a baby, doctors warned my parents that a brain defect might prevent me from ever walking or talking. Today, I’m healthy, competitive, and involved, proof that odds are meant to be beaten. I know not everyone gets that same outcome, which is why I’ve made it my mission to help provide every kid the opportunity to wear a jersey and belong to a team.

Last year, our community blew me away by helping me raise more than $2,500. That support helped show just how much people care about bringing Unified Sports to our schools and creating spaces where athletes with and without disabilities play together as teammates.

I’m braving the cold again this year to take that impact even further. Every dollar you donate directly supports Special Olympics New York athletes with free equipment, competition, and inclusive school programming.
